Overview:

  • Grupo Odinsa, based in Colombia, has acquired a 50% stake in Corporación Quiport, which operates 93% of the Mariscal Sucre Airport in Quito, from Aecon.
  • To finance the acquisition, Grupo Odinsa took out a $194 million loan from Banco Itaú, and an unsecured loan from Banco Santander
  • The borrower also completed credit agreements with senior lenders such as the Inter-American Development Bank, Export Development Canada, Export-Import Bank of the Untied States, and Over-Seas Private Investment Corporation.
  • Itaú BBA acted as financial adviser for Odinsa. 
  • In 2014, the airport received 5.6 million passengers and about 180,000 tonnes of cargo. By 2020, the airport is expected to receive 8 million passengers and over 200,000 tonnes of cargo.
