AIMCo/Borealis/OTPP/Wren House £2 billion acquisition of London City Airport

Overview:

• A Canadian consortium made up of Alberta Investment Management Corporation, Borealis Infrastructure, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board and Wren House Infrastructure has acquired London City Airport for £2 billion from Global Infrastructure Partners.
• The airport serves over four million passengers a year.
• Global Infrastructure Partners also owns Gatwick and Edinburgh airports.
• London City is located 6 miles from the city itself but is located close to the business district of Canary Wharf.
• Linklaters advised the buyer consortium on infrastructure matters with Freshfields handling the corporate elements.
