Asian private equity firm MBK Partners and a consortium has acquired Homeplus from Tesco for £4 billion.
Homeplus is the South Korean arm of the UK grocer.
The group of investors comprising the MBK-led consortium included South Korea’s state-run National Pension Service, Singaporean sovereign wealth fund Temasek, and Canadian pension funds Canada Pension Plan and PSP Investments.
The consortium includes Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Temasek.
HSBC acted as the lead financial adviser on the transaction, Barclays acted as financial advisers and sponsor to Tesco for the deal.
