Overview:

  • The Dinginin power station is a proposed 1,336MW coal-fired power station on the Pataan Peninsula, on the island of Luzon, Philippines.
  • The project also involves the expansion of the Mariveles Power Plant but with different sponsors, and it is the first non-recourse overseas power project financing by Chinese financial institutions.
  • The first unit of Dinginin reached financial close in 2016, with financial close of the second unit expected in 2017.
  • This project is likely to be at the tail end of large thermal or coal-fired projects in Philippines as the energy sector now turns to renewable energy.
