Sagar Mala Project

Overview:

• The Sagar Mala Project is a government initiative that aims to improve India's maritime infrastructure through moderninsing existing ports in India, connecting the ports with the hinterland, developing the inland and coastal waterways, as well as setting up new ports. 
• Under the Sagar Mala project, there will be at least six new mega ports built. 
• The current Indian government will try to implement the projects before completion of its tenure in May 2019.
