MESUABARI MENE-JOSIAH is a Managing Associate within the firm’s Dispute Resolution and Oil and Gas Teams. He regularly represents and advises both foreign and Nigerian clients. He regularly participates in due diligence exercises conducted on target companies for investment, mergers and acquisitions. He also specialises in cross-border and domestic equity joint ventures, strategic alliances, restructuring, investments, financing for energy and industrial projects matters.

He has been involved in oil and gas transactions and projects in the Nigerian petroleum industry and has advised numerous international and local companies regarding investments in the industry. He was part of the team that advised an oil and gas company regarding the acquisition of participating interests in OMLs 67, 68, 70 and 104, and had advised an international oil company on the establishment and operations of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading in Nigeria. He has also advised several Nigerian companies in relation to a high-level due diligence exercise in the oil and gas industry, obtaining a service permit to operate in the oil and gas industry, as well as Business establishment and local content structuring for proposed joint ventures.

As part of his oil and gas experience, he has been instrumental in advising an international oil company on the establishment and operations of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading in Nigeria. He is currently providing advice to some international oil companies on issues relating to oil drilling in Nigeria

  • Part of the team that advised Seplat Energy Plc on the 100% acquisition of the shares of two holding companies (Mobil Development Nigeria Inc and Mobil Exploration Nigeria Inc.) in the target, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited from two sellers Exxon Mobil Africa and Middle East Investments B.V. This is a landmark transaction that involved the divestment of some of the most significant oil and gas assets in Nigeria
  • Part of the team that advised Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria PLC (ALSCON) on gas supply and pricing challenges as part of efforts to revive its USD 3.2 billion aluminium smelting plant in Akwa Ibom State
  • Part of the team advising a potential buyer of Total's participating interest in 15 oil mining leases in the Nigerian upstream petroleum industry. The transaction is significant as it involves a huge number of oil assets sought to be sold by Total
