Joke manages the Firm’s Abuja office. She has diverse experience that cuts across the Firm’s dispute resolution and corporate practice areas. She has represented several multinational and local companies; non-profit organisations and individuals in complex and high value arbitration and litigation proceedings, in local and regional courts, arising from various areas of law including oil and gas, maritime, employment, shareholder disputes, debt recovery and human rights.

  • Represented multinational and local companies in commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings arising from various areas of Nigerian law including oil and gas, maritime, employment, shareholder disputes, construction and debt recovery. Specific transactions include being a core member of the team that:
  • Is currently representing an IOC at the Community Court of Justice of ECOWAS in a claim of US$653 billion brought by certain communities of the Niger Delta for alleged gas flaring in its exploration, drilling and production activities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria;
  • Successfully represented an international bank in a claim of NGN40 billion in a matter on the interpretation of provisions of the Banks & Other Financial Institutions Act, 1991 and the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007
  • Advised a Spanish oil company in relation to CIArb arbitration resulting from the termination of a contract with a Nigerian oil company.
