Catherine holds an LLB from National and Kapodistrian University (Athens) and LLM from Columbia University.  She worked with Shearman and Sterling in New York (1988-1992) and then with Karatzas and Partners as associate (1992-1996) and managing partner (1996- ).

The firm is led by a woman, the majority of the partners and associates are also women. Karatzas & Partners offers flexible working arrangements, remote options, parental leave, while supporting organizations like "Diotima" and “Margarita” to empower women and create opportunities for people with disabilities. 

Catherine has participated and continues to participate in some of the most significant transactions for Greek economy and often for Greek national life: the Greek Government debt restructuring, the first Green Bond, the first NPL transaction post the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the landmark 30-yrs. Greek Government Bond and the investment in the first unicorn startup in Greece. She has also advised on a number of M&A and corporate transactions.

Among others, she has recently represented:

  • Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE on the tender offer of Bally’s Group for Intralot and on the financing for €2.7 Billion Acquisition of Bally’s International Interactive Business by Intralot;
  • Citigroup Global Markets Limited and Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc in their capacity as UK Sponsors in connection with the admission of Metlen Energy & Metals to the London Stock Exchange;
  • (i) National Bank of Greece on the sale of the entire share capital of Probank Leasing S.A., a subsidiary in the financial leasing sector; and (ii) National Bank of Greece and NBG Leasing S.A. on the sale of two portfolios of non-performing financial leasing exposures;
  • National Bank of Greece on Project Frontier I, II and III, three landmark securitisation transactions of non-performing exposures (NPEs), with a total gross book value exceeding €7 billion;
  • General Logistics Systems B.V. (GLS), a subsidiary of International Distribution Services plc (IDS), on its recent acquisition of a 20% stake in ACS Courier and Postal Services from Quest Holdings SA for €74 million;
  • Cenergy Holdings S.A. in connection with its €200 million share capital increase, through a non-preemptive issue of 22,222,222 new, ordinary, voting shares at an offer price of €9.00 per share.
