Overview:

  • Onex has acquired SIG Combibloc Group for €3.75 billion from Reynolds Group Holdings.
  • SIG is a Swiss packing company specialised in producing fruit juice cartons. It has 5100 employees in around 40 countries.
  • Barclays, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Nomura, RBC, Crédit Agricole, Mizuho, RBS, UniCredit and Rabobank acted as joint lead arrangers in the financing for the acquisition. 
  • Goldman Sachs acted as financial adviser to Reynolds. Barclays acted as lead financial adviser to Onex with Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase.
  • The deal is part of a wider effort by Toronto private equity firm Onex to expand into Europe.
