Overview:

  • Teesside 299MW biomass power plant.
  • The project is being developed by MGT Power and is expected to be online by 2020.
  • The plant will be fired by chips and pellets, largely imported from the US, and will power 600,000 homes.
  • Macquarie Capital, Macquarie Commodities and Financial Markets and the Danish pension fund PKA are the joint owners of the plant. 
  • According to Linklaters, the project is the first biomass plant to have successfully been financed under the UK's new contract for difference (CfD) regime.
