Vodacom ZAR7 billion acuisition of Neotel Propriety

Overview:

• South Africa's biggest mobile operator Vodacom has launched a ZAR7 billion bid to acquire the entire issued share capital of Neotel.
• The acquisition raised much opposition from the local market, requiring the competition authority to step in. 
• In December 2015, Vodacom dropped its bid to acquire the company's spectrum service, and announced its intention to only acquire the majority of its fixed line services.
