Overview:

  • Tel Aviv Light Rail - Red Line.
  • The project is the first section of the Tel Aviv Light Rail.
  • The Red Line will run from Bat Yam to Petah Tikva.
  • The initial concession was awarded in 2006 to the Metropolitan Transportation Solution (MTS) Consortium, but that was cancelled in 2010 after MTS failed to secure funding. Responsibility for construction was then passed to the transport authority the NTA.
  • The latest section to be put out to tender is the Western section that has two parallel tunnels each 5km in length and six stations Allenby, Yehudit Boulevard, King Saul, Arlozoroff, Abba Hillel and Bialik.
  • The tender for the construction of the Western section was awarded to Solel Boneh and China Railway Tunnel Group in May 2015.
