Athene Holding NYSE IPO

Overview:

• Bermuda-based retirement services and life insurance holding company Athene Holding has undertaken a $1.08 billion IPO.
• The NYSE-listed IPO was the third largest in the US in 2016.
• About 20 million of Athene's shares were sold by owner Apollo Global Management.
• In addition to private equity firm Apollo, Athene is owned by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a subsidiary of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board.
• Among the lead underwriters were Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo Securities, BofA Merrill Lynch, and BMO Capital Markets.
