Overview:

  • The Coca Cola Company, SAB Miller and Gutsche Family combined to form Coca Cola Beverages Africa.
  • The deal received approval from South Africa’s Competition Tribunal in May 2016 after two years of deliberation. 
  • The new company becomes the largest non-alcoholic ready to drink beverages business in Africa, accounting for 40% of volume and operating in 12 countries. 
  • Once finalised, shares in the company will be as follows; SABMiller,57.0%; Gutsche Family Investments, 31.7%; and The Coca-Cola Company,11.3%. 
  • The deal included the transfer of Nigerian water company Voltic Nigeria, holding company of La Voltic Table Water.
