Overview:

  • A consortium of BAM-PGGM, Eiffage and Berger Bau has been awarded the PPP (public-private partnership) contract for the A94 Forstinning-Marktl motorway project in Germany, which is expected to cost around €1.1 billion to complete.
  • The contract covers the expansion of the A94 through the construction of a new 33 km, four-lane stretch of motorway between Pastetten and Heldenstein, and the maintenance of a 77 km section of the road between Forstinning and Marktl for a 30 year period.
  • The project company Isentalautobahn, which comprises the three private contractors, and public sector party Autobahndirektion Südbayern (ABDSB), reached financial close on an agreement with a syndicate of lenders for a €409 million facility to partially fund the development.
  • Four German lenders - Bayerische Landesbank, DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, DZ Bank Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank and KfW IPEX-Bank - and the European Investment Bank (EIB) providing the financing.
  • Construction of the motorway began in February 2016 and is expected to be complete by the end of October 2019.
