Overview:

  • US biopharmaceutical company AbbVie has acquired Ireland-headquartered peer Allergan in a $63 billion deal. 
  • Allergan produces wrinkle treatment Botox. 
  • The combined company will be based in North Chicago, home to AbbVie's headquarters. 
  • Morgan Stanley and PJT Partners acted as financial advisers for AbbVie and JP Morgan Securities acted as exclusive financial adviser for Allergan. 
  • The transaction is expected to close in early 2020.
