Overview:

  • General Electric has signed a 15 year rolling stock contract worth $1 billion with Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's national railway company.
  • The deal will see the American company supply 225 new locomotives to Ukrzaliznytsia over the term of the contract, in addition to modernising 75 of its existing rolling stock. 
  • The first element of the contract will see GE provide 30 new locomotives to Ukrzaliznytsia in 2018-2019,  which will be financed through a lease agreement with Ukreximbank, Ukraine's national export-import bank.
