Overview:

  • Landbridge acquired a 99 year lease of Darwin Port for A$506 million from the Northern Territory Government of Australia in October 2015.
  • Landbridge is a Chinese-owned group with interests in logistics and petrochemical infrastructure, and tourism.
  • In 2017 Landbridge sold 20% of the lease back to the regional government to comply with the initial terns of the contract. The fee was nominal ($100) and the federal state has no obligation to contribute to any of the port's costs, nor will not receive any of the profits from the port's operations.
