Stericycle $2.3 billion acquisition of Shred-it International

Overview:

• Shred-It International, a portfolio company of Birch Hill Equity Partners and a global company providing secure information destruction services, was acquired by Stericycle, a US-based waste management company, for $2.3 billion. 
• Shred-It filed a preliminary prospectus for an IPO and secondary offering (which would have been the largest IPO of the year to date in Canada) in July 2015, only two days before entering into the agreement to sell to Stericycle. 
• The sale marked the largest disposition in Canada by a private equity fund.
• The deal was first announced in June 2015.
