Overview:

  • A consortium of investors led by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets has acquired a 30% stake in EP Infrastructure (EPIF) from Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH).
  • EPIF is a subsidiary of central European energy firm EPH and manages businesses including Slovak gas distributor Eustream.
  • EPH had originally intend to spin out EPIF via an IPO in 2016.
  • According to Reuters, the funds raised from the deal will allow EPH to buy out minortity shareholders.
  • EPH has been active in the M&A space over the last few years acquiring lignite assets in Germany, the Langage and South Humber Bank power plants in the UK and a stake in Slovenské elektrárne.
