Overview:

  • Flipkart has acquired eBay India as part of a wider investment drive.
  • The Indian online retailer acquired eBay's Indian business at the same time as eBay invested $500 million into Flipkart and took an equity stake in the company.
  • The deal is part of wider fund raising by the company which saw Flipkart secure $1.4 billion in investment from eBay Singapore, Microsoft and Tencent in April 2017.
  • Softbank Vision Fund also announced in August that it intends to invest $2 billion in the company.
  • Flipkart is the largest online retailer in India.
