Overview:

  • E18 Hamina-Vaalimaa motorway PPP
  • The Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) and Tieyhtiö Vaalimaa - a joint venture between YIT Construction and Meridiam Infrastructure Finance - has signed a service agreement to build and maintain the motorway on a PPP (public-private partnership) basis, the final 32km section of a motorway stretching from Turku to the eastern border.
  • The agreement includes the planning, construction, funding and maintenance of the motorway including the building of waiting area for heavy vehicles close to the Vaalimaa border station.
  • Funding for the project was provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB), Nordic Investment Bank and Pohjola Bank, who acted as senior lenders on the deal.
