Overview:

  • Beatrice 588MW offshore wind farm.
  • Located in the Moray Firth in Scotland, the project is being developed by SSE Renewables (40%), Repsol Nuevas Energias UK (25%) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%).
  • The farm consists of 84 turbines and is located 13km off the coast.
  • It is the largest project to reach financial close under the UK's new Contract for Difference (CFD) regime.
  • The project is backed by 13 lenders including the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Danish export credit agency Eksport Kredit Fonden.
  • The £525 million from the EIB is being supported by the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) and represents the bank's largest investment in offshore wind to date.
  • The deal is the second significant UK wind project to close in a month following the Dudgeon 402MW Offshore Wind Farm.
