Venable has announced the addition of attorney William Hoops as counsel at its real estate practice in Washington DC.

He represents lender and borrowers on a range of real estate financing types, including credit facilities, mezzanine financings and CMBS offerings.

He was previously VP and senior real estate counsel at Comerica Bank, and before Comerica had spent time with firms Ballard Spahr, Bodman and Morgan Lewis & Bockius.

"Venable as a firm has a stellar real estate practice, whether real estate finance or general real estate," Hoops said about his new employer.
"Real estate in DC is exploding," Hoops continued, "and DC is a microcosm for what's going on elsewhere."

According to Hoops, the high level of current real estate activity that he’s been seeing is often connected to companies in the process of reducing office space, both for financial and cultural reasons.

With 70 real estate attorneys spread across six different offices, the changes that Hoops describes will likely keep Venable's real estate practice considerably busy for quite some time.
