Singapore-based Biswajit Chatterjee has joined Squire Patton Boggs from DLA Piper, and is set to kick off the firm’s corporate practice in the region while continuing to handle India-related deals out of Singapore.

Chatterjee specialises in capital markets and private equity, corporate finance and M&A matters in Asia, and has particular strength in emerging markets such as India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand.

Before joining DLA Piper, Chatterjee was with Allen & Overy after working at Clyde & Co and Jones Day.

The departure is the latest in a series of DLA Piper partner exits in recent months. After the departures Esther Leung to Jun He, Jolyon Ellwood-Russell to Simmons & Simmons, and Giovanni Marino to Winston & Strawn, the firm is left with three partners, and an additional two dividing their time between Singapore and Hong Kong.

In May 2014, Winston & Strawn also poached a four-lawyer team made up of corporate head of Asia, Mabel Lui, partner Daniel Tang, of counsel Polly Chu and associate Natalie Tsang.
