Ronald Kogens becomes partner of FRORIEP

The business law firm FRORIEP has named Ronald Kogens partner as of 1 July 2019.

Ronald Kogens specialises in disruptive and new technologies. He advises Swiss and international clients on corporate and technology transactions, financing and the legal structuring of projects.

Ronald Kogens has a profound knowledge of IP/IT law, in particular in the legal and technical aspects of cloud infrastructures (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS), data centres, licensing of IP rights, IP transactions, software development, formation of ecosystems (decentralised, autonomous organisations or full economies) using distributed ledger technology (blockchain). He is also an expert on financial market law in connection with Fintech projects and contract law.

Ronald Kogens represents clients in the development and negotiation of cloud services contracts, software development contracts, rules for blockchain Consortia (industry related permissioned blockchains), sales documentation for tokenised goods and financial products as well as documentation for venture capital financing and private equity transactions.

Before joining Froriep as an associate in 2017, he worked for a major global consulting firm. He was also part of the legal counsel team of a listed pharmaceutical company at its headquarters in Switzerland and worked for its subsidiary in the US.

Ronald Kogens completed his law studies at the University of Lucerne in 2011 and was admitted to the St. Gallen Bar in 2012. In 2016 he was awarded a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Law from Chapman University, California, USA.

Ronald Kogens is the author of numerous legal publications and appears regularly as a speaker. He is a legal expert in various working groups in connection with the adaptation of existing laws to new technologies. He is a member of both, the Zurich and the Swiss Bar Association.

His working languages are German and English. Ronald Kogens operates at our office in Zürich.
