Morgan Lewis Stamford has strengthened its corporate practice in Singapore with the hire of a capital markets expert as partner.

Karun Cariappa joins the firm from Simmons & Simmons where he acted as of counsel and co-head of the India practice.

Suet-Fern Lee, chair of Morgan Lewis Stamford’s International Leadership Team, said of the hire: “Karun is an ideal addition to our cross-border transactional team in Singapore. He deepens our capabilities to serve companies throughout Asia, especially those with interests in India.”

Cariappa has expertise in security offerings across Asia and advises on an array of matters including initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, private placements, bond offerings, and bond restructurings.

This new addition reinforces the firm’s commitment to expanding its practice in Asia, coming alongside the hire of Helen Fok from Simmons & Simmons to the firm’s Hong Kong practice and the previous hire of Edward Bennett from Ashurst to the firm’s Singapore practice in 2017.
