Loeb & Loeb, has hired Philippe Manteau, a former partner and co-leader of the international client service group at Schiff Hardin, to head its new Western Europe corporate practice. Manteau will work in the firm's capital markets and corporate department.

Manteau explained that a primary reason he was drawn to Loeb & Loeb was that his practice areas and sector focus was aligned with the firms. Both he and Loeb & Loeb focus on mid-market companies, and are active in the software and information technology, pharmaceutical, medical devices, industrial equipment, consumer brands and retail, fashion and food and beverage sectors.

“European companies see many opportunities in the United States and Loeb’s strengths are extremely well aligned with my clients’ needs,” he explained.

Manteau is a dual French-American citizen and licensed to practice in both France and New York. The firm’s Western Europe practice will have clients from across Western Europe in France, England, Germany, Italy and the Benelux region.

Manteau is no stranger to launching new practices. When he was at Herbert Smith’s Paris office, he worked to build and establish the commercial law practice at the firm. Manteau also served as Head of the European Union Legal Desk at Donahue & Partners, a New York-based firm with an association with London-based Ernst & Young.
