Sino-Australian law firm King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has brought in a new equity markets partner to its Hong Kong office.

John Baptist Chan joins from AMTD Group, a local Hong Kong brokerage, where he was general counsel.

Chan specialises in corporate finance, capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. He has an extensive track record in closing IPO transactions, including Chinese brokerage HTSC's $4.5 billion IPO on HKSE, China Huishan Dairy's $1.5 billion IPO, and Haitong Securities's $1.8 billion IPO. 

Chan was also a former counsel at Clifford Chance, a former associate at Paul Hastings and Linklaters, and has worked in-house at Citigroup.

King & Wood Mallesons now has eight partners in Hong Kong specialising in IPOs.
