Goodwin Procter has expanded its real estate team with the hire of a new lawyer from Macfarlanes.

Catriona Berman will join the firm's real estate capital markets practice and will act on M&A and portfolio management issues. Before joining Macfarlanes she had held an asociate position at Slaughter and May and spent time in the Irish market with Matheson.

At Macfarlanes Berman acted on matters such as the sale by London Bridge Holdings of the More London office development in 2013, which at £1.7 billion was one of the largest commercial real estate deals ever completed in the UK.

Goodwin Procter itself has been active on UK commercial real estate acquistions including work for the likes of Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management on its divestment of Tower Place and Kennedy Wilson Europe Real Estate on its acquisition of 111 Buckingham Palace Road.
