Partner promotions are effective as of January 1, 2021 and counsel’s as of July 1, 2020. These promotions bring us to a total headcount of 21 partners and eight counsel.

Bernardo Reyes Retana Krieger

He has over 13 years of professional experience, and has focused his practice in both private and public offerings of securities, advising issuers, investors, underwriters, and credit agencies, as well as in domestic and cross-border complex transactions, mostly with respect to financings, capital and debt markets and

M&A.

His experience also includes representing and advising financial entities, such as private and public banking institutions, and other companies on financial regulatory matters in Mexico. Also, he has contributed with the Mexico Chapter of several global comparative guides and participated as assistant professor for Finance Law at the Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the legal departments of two relevant Financial Groups headquartered in Mexico. Moreover, after obtaining his Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a Certificate in Business and Law from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, United States of America; he worked as an international lawyer from 2014 to 2016 at the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Bernardo obtained his Law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico.

Daniel Guaida Azar

Project Finance, Corporate Finance, Fintech, M&A He has over 13 years of professional experience and has focused his practice in domestic and cross border project finance, M&A transactions, as well as structuring publicly traded private equity funds, representing clients from a wide range of industries. In the finance field he has developed expertise in the Financial Technology sphere and regulation thereof, advising among others, startups venturing in newly authorized banking and financial activities in Mexico and in the regulatory authorizations to operate as Financial Technology Institution. His experience also includes advising technology startups in the initial structuring, funding at different stages and buyouts. Furthermore, he contributes as a Fintech mentor in NeedEd Education online education platform. Daniel re-joined the firm in 2017 after his participation as an international lawyer at the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. He holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) from the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia in Madrid, Spain and obtained his Law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico.

Lucía Fernández González

Data Privacy, Franchising, IT, Consumer Protection She has over 15 years of experience delivering legal advice to companies from a wide range of industries including commercial and corporate matters related with information technology, data protection, consumer protection, franchising, licensing and distribution, joint ventures, and strategic alliances. Lucía’s experience in data protection includes advice to clients related to data processing in line with local law, in different aspects of their business, including their day to day operations, specific transactions and internal compliance investigations, as well as the implementation, drafting and/or review of their data protection policies, notices and procedures. She also assists clients in the review, implementation and/or adaptation, from a legal perspective, of their digital marketing procedures, e-commerce websites, OTT services and other webbased products and services. She is active member of the association Privacy Rules (Global Alliance of Privacy Experts) and the National Corporate Counsel Association (ANADE). Also, she has contributed with the Mexico Chapter of several global comparative guides related with franchising and consumer protection. Lucía holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the New York University in New York, United States and obtained her Law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Universidad de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico.

Carlos Fernando Castilla Cruz

Administrative & Constitutional Litigation, Environment He has over 15 years of professional experience and has focused his legal practice in administrative litigation and dispute resolution, with a focus in environmental and regulatory law. He brings a business approach to his litigation defense strategies, regarding the enforcement of authorizations, permits and licenses for projects, including such involving social aspects. He represents domestic and multinational companies in proceedings before Federal and Local administrative authorities. Also, his work includes providing expert opinions and performing environmental/regulatory risk assessments, as part of due diligence processes measuring the impact of legal contingencies. Carlos is an active member of the National Corporate Counsel Association (ANADE). He obtained his Law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Universidad Marista (CUM) in Mexico City, Mexico.

Enrique Muñoz Guízar

Environment, Lifesciences & Health Care, Consumer Protection He has over 15 years of experience in environmental law, regulatory and administrative matters, especially focused in natural resources, healthcare, and consumer protection. His experience includes advising companies in the identification and obtainment of permits, licenses, authorizations, and concessions required for their activities and operation, including for the development of projects in the water, energy, mining, tourism, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors; as well as for the importation, management, transportation and distribution of hazardous substances and other raw materials required for industrial purposes. Enrique has a broad experience in different aspects of the healthcare sector, including legal advice regarding the requirements for the importation, storage and distribution of regulated products, such as drugs, food supplements, medical devices, cosmetics, food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and tobacco. He is also knowledgeable in terms of the regulatory compliance of new and innovative products and their technology. He advises in terms of product promotion activities and the compliance thereof with the healthcare and consumer protection regulation. He is vice coordinator of the Environmental Committee of the National Corporate Counsel Association (ANADE), and environmental professor of the Diploma ANADE-UP Program at the Universidad Panamericana. He obtained a Health Law Diploma from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and his Law degree (J.D. equivalent) from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
