Ashurst has hired a new partner to its corporate practice in Hong Kong focused on Asian M&A transactions.

Joshua Cole joins the firm from King & Wood Mallesons where he focused on cross-border M&A and joint ventures.

Lina Lee, Ashurst’s Hong Kong office managing partner, said of the hire: "Joshua has a wealth of experience advising clients in the region and with the increase in cross-border corporate transactions throughout Asia-Pacific, his arrival will help to capitalise on further opportunities. His appointment reflects our ambition to consolidate and grow the Hong Kong international M&A practice. In addition, the recent arrival of debt capital markets partner Jini Lee further reflects our commitment to drive forward our expansion in Asia."

Cole permanently relocated to Hong Kong in 2010 and advises on global acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures across industry sectors such as energy and resources, telecommunications and financial services.

His clients include Chinese state-owned-enterprises, regional players and multinationals looking to expand in the region.
