Yemisi Awonuga is a Partner in the Energy and Projects Practice Group at Templars.

Her extensive specialist experience spans over 14 years of advising clients along the entire value chain in the energy sector including upstream producers, off takers, midstream service companies and downstream market. She routinely advises on the bankability of energy projects with a focus on risk evaluation, allocation and proffering mitigation mechanics through contractual documentation. 

Yemisi combines her commercial experience with her deep understanding of the Nigerian petroleum sector and has, in the last five years focused solely on the petroleum sector advising on integrated oil and gas commercialization projects; crude oil evacuation systems; acquisition of oil and gas assets; structured financing for energy projects; gas project conceptualization studies and regulatory matters. Yemisi has deep knowledge of the regulatory underpinnings of her focal sector. She also has great expertise in advising on complex corporate, project and structured finance projects.

  • Newcross Petroleum Limited on its gas commercialization and gas infrastructure project development strategy for OML152 (a PSC field).

    on the expansion of the Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited (IEFCL) 1.4 MTPA gas to (urea fertiliser) petrochemical complex. 
  • Quin Mcgrath Limited onthe negotiation and review of a gas transportation agreement and a gas sale agreement involving the unbundled Nigerian Gas Company and sale of gas under a regulated price regime.
  • Energy Link Infrastructure on the  engineering, procurement, installation/construction, commissioning of a pipeline system in proximity to the OML 18 acreage.
  • Lukoil International Upstream Holding BV in a comprehensive review of the production sharing agreements governing two deep offshore OMLs under production sharing agreements. 
  • ExxonMobil on the various options open to the OML 118 PSC Contractor Parties on the development of various fields within the contract area, which included a review of the production sharing contract governing OML 118.
