Vikram graduated in law at the South Bank University in London and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in November 2005 at the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. He was then called to the Bar at the Supreme Court of Mauritius in December 2006. He was previously an associate and lawyer in two reputable international law firms prior to his appointment as Partner at YKJ Legal, a well established and reputable law firm in Mauritius. Vikram had also been in a private practice as a barrister and engaged both in civil and criminal litigation for nearly three years. He appeared in various Courts of Mauritius including the Supreme Court.

Vikram has a rich experience in the global business sector and has been advising on a wide range of commercial, financial and corporate matters including advising on credit transactions, securitisation, fund and trust matters, issues regarding litigation, amalgamation, insolvency, redomiciliation of companies, generally from a Mauritius law perspective and which includes advising and drafting of legal documents in connection with cross-border corporate and commercial transactions involving international banks and financial institutions, borrowers as well as private equity clients.

  • Advised JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A., Singapore on a loan facility provided by the financial institution to a global business company incorporated in Mauritius.
  • Advised J.P. Morgan Securities Asia Private Limited forming part of the J.P. Morgan Group (financial institution - global leader), on matters related with the issue of non-convertible bonds on a private placement basis by a reputed company incorporated in India.
  • Advised Axis Bank (India), the third largest private sector bank in India, on the restructuration of certain loan facilities provided to a reputed company in India.
  • Advised CAPD (Mauritius) Ltd forming part of Capital Limited group which is leading service provider for the exploration and mining industry providing drilling and mining services across Africa on certain loan transactions.
  • Advised the Greenko group, one of the leading renewable energy companies in India which has received several accolades in India, on various transactions including loans and issue of notes/bonds.
  • Advised EPE Capital on a loan transaction. It is an investment company incorporated in Mauritius which invests in a portfolio of unlisted private equity-type investments. It is listed at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and managed by Ethos which is one of the most experienced and successful alternative investment managers in Africa.
  • Advised Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation on loan transactions. The company forms part of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) which is one of the world's largest and most diversified financial groups. The Group's stock is listed on the Tokyo, Nagoya, and New York stock exchanges.
  • Advised Bandwidth and Cloud Services Group on a loan transaction. The company is a wholesale leading carrier providing Fiber Connectivity Solutions reaching across 15 countries in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa.
