Ms. Wang Shu is the head of Han Kun’s Banking and Finance practice group.  Shu advises on the full range of banking and finance transactions, including private and corporate banking business, commercial loans, syndication loans, project finance, trade finance, export credit, debt restructuring, securitization, corporate bonds and other structured products.

Shu is also a well-recognized expert in the aviation finance sector and led by her, Han Kun’s aviation practice has been continuously ranked Band One by Chambers since 2016.  Shu has been involved in almost all types of aviation finance transactions such as operating leasing, finance leasing, sale and lease-back, China bonded zone leasing, JOL and French Tax Leasing.  These transactions involve almost all PRC airlines' leasing and financing of hundreds of aircraft.  Shu has also advised many Chinese companies and individuals in the sale and purchase of private jets.

Shu is a keen supporter of initiatives for women – not only within the Firm, but in the wider group of women lawyers.  She is currently the head of the women’s lawyer working committee of Dongcheng Lawyers Association.

At Han Kun, we always attach great importance to the growth and success of women lawyers and the fact bears this out.  Of the 437 lawyers we have as of today, 60% are women; of the 87 partners, 43% are women.  Ms. Wang Shu, as a prominent lawyer building and leading Han Kun’s Banking & Finance practice group, together with the Firm’s Co-CEO who is also a woman, both serve on the five-member executive committee of the Firm.  In addition, our COO is a woman, as is the head of our HR department.  Promoting women to partnership and key management positions is no longer an aspiration at Han Kun.  It is a reality.

To ensure our continued success in this respect, we have established a Women’s Lawyer Committee which serves as a platform to deal with issues specific to women lawyers and advise the Firm’s management how we can do better in hiring, retaining and promoting women lawyers.

We are also active in bar associations where we have offices to promote growth and development of women lawyers in the legal community.
