Benjamin Leisinger studied law at the University of Basel, graduating in 2003 and receiving a doctorate in 2006.
He joined Homburger as an associate in 2008. In 2012, he graduated with an LLM from the University of Chicago.
Prior to joining Homburger again in 2013, he worked as a foreign associate in a leading international law firm in New York. He is a partner in Homburger’s Banking and Finance and Capital Markets teams since 2018 and regularly advises on debt capital market transactions throughout the range of products, on crypto-linked listed derivatives, as well as on financial market regulatory and financial services matters.
Advised 21Shares as lead partner in the world first and all following issuance and listing of crypto-backed exchange traded products
Advised Credit Suisse in the structuring and issuance of Contingent Convertible (CoCo), the issuance and implementation of the write-down of Contingent Write-Down instruments, as well as in the structuring and issuance of TLAC-eligible senior bail-in bonds and capital increases until 2023
Advised various issuers and banking syndicates, including Raiffeisen Schweiz Genossenschaft, SIX Group AG, Zürcher Kantonalbank, Thermo Fisher, New Zealand Local Government Funding Agency Limited, Sulzer AG, Julius Baer Group Ltd., Luzerner Kantonalbank AG, Straumann Holding AG, Siegfried Holding AG or Danaher Corporation, on various bond transactions
Advised the Swiss Shakti Foundation on the structuring and set-up of its SXE Digital SMART Note Issuance Program, under which the terms and conditions of the digital notes and the applicable tokenization terms are governed by Swiss law
