However, the firm is performs outstanding work in banking and finance, debt and equity capital markets, M&A and restructuring and insolvency. In banking and finance the firm advises lead arrangers, borrowers and lenders in revolving credit facility financing, refinancing, and acquisition financing transactions. It also advises on mortgage loans and commodity trade financing.

In financial services regulatory, the firm acts as investigator in the FINMA regulatory proceedings and advises on FinTech licensing.

In equity capital markets, the firm advises issuers on IPOs, share offerings, squeeze-out mergers and share buy-back programmes. In debt, the firm advises issuers and originators on covered bonds, green bond issuances and asset-backed securitisations.

In M&A, the firm represents publicly listed sellers and buyers in high-profile market acquisitions in a range of industries including skincare health, pharmaceuticals and life sciences and energy management.

Research period review: 31st edition (2020/2021) 

In the research period, the banking and finance team represented lenders in real estate, corporate and sustainability financing. It also represented distressed companies in refinancings and financial restructurings. In financial services regulatory, the team advised clients in the banking and financial services industry on regulatory matters related to FINMA, investment fund structuring, FinIA, FinSA and cryptocurrency.

The capital markets practice mainly worked on debt, equity and structured finance and securitizations transactions, acting for issuers. Debt transactions include covered, high yield, green and investment grade bond issuances. Equity transactions include rights offerings, IPOs, buybacks, public offerings, at the market offerings, capital increases and tender offerings.

In M&A, the team represented both buy and sell side in strategic and private equity acquisitions. Though the team is able to complete transactions across a wide variety of industries, banking, healthcare and technology were big industries during the research period.

The restructuring and insolvency team acted for mostly creditors, but also debtors in out of court restructurings and bankruptcy and insolvency filings.

In terms of lateral moves, partner Katja Schott joined the M&A practice from Wenger Plattner.
