Research period review: 30th edition (2019/2020)

During the research period in banking work the firm saw a steady workflow of acquisition and project financings, particularly in the wind power sector. It also advised on real estate portfolio financing, advising lenders and borrowers.

In capital markets work the firm was recently active in share buybacks, debt-to-equity conversions, IPOs and secondary listings. In debt financing, the firm advised a wide range of clients, from open-ended investment funds to financial institutions, on bond issues.

In M&A and private equity work the firm advised on some of the largest local and cross-border deals on the market, working for both sellers and buyers across telecom, infrastructure, food services, machinery, medtech and pharmaceutical sectors. A notable deal was advising the board of directors of DNA in the tender offer by Telenor for all DNA’s shares.

In project work the firm maintained its strong public private partnerships focus, with three PPPs in the education sector advising the City of Espoo, the City of Helsinki and the City of Lappeenranta in school construction.

The restructuring and insolvency team worked on a mix of bankruptcies, serving as an administrator, and corporate restructuring proceedings, in a range of sectors including real estate, steel and manufacturing, biodiesel plants and retail.

A staffing change saw Kimmo Mettälä, a banking and finance partner, retire from the firm during the research period.
