Overview:

  • Suez Environnement (Suez) and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ) have agreed to acquire GE Water & Process Technologies (GE Water) from General Electric for €3.2 billion.
  • The deal will see ownership split 70/30 between Suez and CDPQ, with CDPQ investing $700 million.
  • Following the deal GE Water will be merged with Suez's industrial solutions business.
  • The sale came about as a result of a proposed merger of GE's oil and gas business with Baker Hughes.
  • The transaction is expected to close by mid-2017.
