Overview:

  • Groupe SEB acquired WMF from its private equity sponsor Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) for around €1.02 billion.
  • SEB and WMF are French and German companies respectively, which both manufacture household appliances.
  • Under the terms of the deal, SEB agreed to assume €565 million of WMF's debt and an additional €125 million in pension liabilities. 
  • KKR acquired a stake in WMF for €470 million in 2012, taking over the business through a squeeze-out in 2015.
