Overview:

  • China has restructured its state owned telecoms industry by combining $36 billion of network assets into new entity China Tower Corporation.
  • Stakes in the new company will be held by China Mobile (38%), China Unicom (28%), China Telecom Corp (28%), China Reform Holdings (6%).
  • The restructuring has been undertaken in part to deal with an increase in the use of the country's mobile networks.
