Overview:

  • Clai Fund, a Chinese fund which invests in Latin America, is acquiring 33% of Duke Energy International Brazil Holdings from the China Three Gorges Corporation, in a transaction worth $315 million. 
  • In October 2016, China Three Gorges Corporation indirectly acquired Duke Energy Paranapanema (a company that Duke Energy International Brazil Holdings has the majority of shares of) from Duke Energy International. 
  • Duke Energy Brazil assets include eight hydroelectric plants with a capacity of 2,057MW located between São Paulo and Parana states and two 17MW hydroelectric plants on the Sapucai Mirim River in the state of São Paulo.
