Overview:

  • The National Broadband Plan is the largest telecoms and infrastructure project in Ireland that will provide high speed broadband across the country.
  • In May 2019, National Broadband Ireland, a consortium led by American investment firm Granahan McCourt, won the bid to develop the project.
  • In November, the EU Commission approved €2.6 billion state aid for the project which was followed by the Irish government signing of the National Broadband Plan contract.
