Overview:

  • An investor group led by SoftBank Group, Dragoneer Investment Group and Sequoia Capital has completed a $9.3 billion investment in US ride-hailing company Uber Technologies
  • The group purchased roughly 17.5% of Uber's shares, making SoftBank Uber's largest shareholder at a stake of 15%. 
  • The investment was first announced in October, but was subject to a number of obstacles and delays. 
  • The purchased shares were mostly sold by Uber employees and early investors at a considerable discount based on previous valuations.
