Overview:

  • PLTU Batang is a 2x1000MW coal-fired power station by Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) under construction in Central Java.
  • It is the first IPP project which is developed using a Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.   
  • JBIC and a consortium of lenders have financed Bhimasena Power Indonesia with $4.4 billion for its construction.
  • This will be the largest coal plant in Indonesia, and its power will be sold to Indonesia's state-owned utility.
  • Bhimasena Power Indonesia brought together two Japanese and one Indonesian energy company to operate the coal plant.
