Norton Rose has added to its well-regarded Singapore shipping practice with the relocation of a partner from London.
The firm has transferred Ian Teare to Asia and his move means that the Singapore offices shipping team now consists of three full-time litigation partners. The firm also boasts a leading ship finance practice led by partner Gervais Green.
International firms have increasingly named Singapore as a prime jurisdiction for focus in Asia-Pacific. Though the shipping industry is undergoing a difficult period, Singapore lawyers remain quite busy and Teares arrival will undoubtedly assist the team.
Harry Theochari, Norton Roses group head of transport, said: We have seen a continued increase in maritime work in our Singapore office in recent years, triggered by the economic growth of Asia. The shipping sector has a key role to play in facilitating trade between Asia and the rest of the world and many of our clients have been growing their presence in the region.
