Fred B Tumbuan, one of Indonesia's most respected lawyers heads this practice that is considered one of the 'powerhouses' for capital market and securities work. Fred is a renowned lawyer, academic and author, and has been involved in the drafting of Indonesia's commercial legislation. "I have a huge amount of respect for Fred. He is undoubtedly one of Indonesia's most prominent lawyers," says a lawyer. His daughter, Jennifer Tumbuan is the senior partner who specialises in banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and mining projects.
In November 2011, Tumbuan & Partners teamed up with international law firm O'Melveny & Myers in a move that saw O'Melveny Singapore partner, Joel Hogarth, relocate to Jakarta to act as a consultant.
They advised Borneo Lumbung Energi & Metal in its $1 billion acquisition of 23.8% shares in Bumi and in its $1 billion acquisition financing made available by Standard Chartered Bank. They assisted Rui Tong issue a series of secured exchangeable note purchase agreements totalling $750 million spanning a five-month period and assisted Pelita Sejahtera Abadi with its $161 million rights issue.
