Established in 2010, Oentoeng Suria & Partners is a commercial law that has an association with Australian law firm Ashurst (formerly Blake Dawson). The firm provides legal advice to clients looking to invest in Indonesia and also draws upon its Ashurt Australia technical resources and expertise for outbound investment activities.
The banking and finance team advises domestic and global financial institutions on Indonesian activities that include asset disposal arrangements, credit arrangements, syndicated loans, micro-finance, debt restructuring, licensing and regulatory and security arrangements. Last year's most notable deal was assisting J Resources Nusantara in its $100 million acquisition financing to fund its gold mining operations in Indonesia and Malaysia. The financing was provided by CIMB Bank and is one of the largest acquisition financings for a gold mining operation. The team has been strengthened by the hire of senior associate Reza Wicaksono, who joins from Latham & Watkins Singapore.

Oentoeng Suria & Partners' lawyers have considerable experience in capital markets work which includes IPOs, rights issues, bond issues, de-listings and regulatory matters. Partners have acted for Indonesian financial institutions and the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency.
The capital markets practice is headed by Atik Susanto who oversaw the backdoor listing of J Resources Nusantara through a reverse takeover by J Resources Asia Pasifik (previously Pelita Sejahtera Abadi).
The M&A practice has continued to grow strongly in the past 12 months having been involved in many transactions in the plantation, mining and insurance sector. Led by Noor Meurling and Toby Grainger, they advised GMG Global on several rubber and palm oil acquisitions in Indonesia and also represented J & Partners on its $200 million acquisition of South East Asian assets from Avocet Mining.
