Based in Almaty, and with a new office in Astana; Oris is a law firm focused on corporate finance and resource oriented work. The firm's key members come from a leading emerging markets investment bank and it has a strong banking & finance practice. The firm also acts as local counsel for a network of international law firms including Gide Loyrette Nouel and Orrick.
It has acted on two LSE IPOs, two of the first publicly rated residential mortgage-backed securitisation deals from Kazakhstan, murabaha (deferred sale) financing facilities and Eurobond issuances.
Deals
Oris has attracted some notable instructions this year and advised Eurasian Development Bank on financing the uranium industry. Led by Amir Tussupkhanov and Rashid Dzhunusbekov, the deal closed in April 2012. Furthermore, in a deal over $100 million, the firm advised EBRD on its infrastructure financing to reform its urban transport system. The firm also advised VTB Bank in respect to a number of facilities in the rail transport industry.
