This year Lee Choon Wan & Co suffered the departure of leading light and partner Jackson Ngiam Keat. However the firm maintained its strong equity capital markets practice, with partner Sharon Koo Siew Ling leading most deals.
Although the firm is small, comprising only four partners and seven associates, the firm wins plaudits for its client service. The firm regularly acts for banks, and stalwart clients include OSK Investment Bank and Public Investment Bank.
Deals
In a highlight transaction, partner Sharon Koo Siew Long represented frequent client Public Investment Bank in SYF Resources' proposed capital reduction of issued and paid up share capital, proposed settlement of debt owed to various financial institutions and proposed issue of redeemable convertible loan stock and proposed rights issue.
The firm also frequently handles privatisations and takeovers of listed company deals and this year Koo represented OSK Investment Bank in Kobay Group's proposed privatisation Lipo Group via a selective capital reduction and repayment exercise.

Deals
This year Koo represented AIC Corporation in its RM170 million ($55.4 million) purchase of the entire business and undertakings of AIC Corporation, Jotech Holdings and AutoV Corporation by Globaltec Foundation, formerly known as Temasek Foundation. Showcasing her capabilities in both the capital markets and M&A, the transaction was financed via issuance of shares in Globaltec Foundation.
